You’ll always find residents spending some time in the great outdoors at one of the many beaches, stopping for a bite to eat at a beachside restaurant, or attending a community event. The people of South Bay love to get out and be involved with their community. With so many events and spaces throughout the whole area for socializing and being together, everyone in the area is known for being friendly and welcoming too. Delicious beachside restaurants and boutiques are found all throughout South Bay. The shopping and dining in this area usually also combine some outdoor fun and beautiful scenery of the oceans and beaches.
Manhattan Beach is famous for its dining scene, and one of the top places to stop is The Strand House. They offer farm fresh new American cuisine, with wide-open windows offering a fantastic view of the ocean. Another popular Manhattan Beach restaurant is Manhattan Beach Post. Its unique wooden features give this eatery a nice rustic ambiance, and they have an award-winning chef serving playful American soul food.
Good Stuff Restaurant, with a location in both Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach, is another South Bay favorite. They offer tasty oceanside breakfasts and lunches. They also have an excellent drink menu with craft beers, bloody marys, and mimosas!
South Bay is home to plenty of excellent Breweries that people love to frequent for a nice cold beer. Hermosa Brewing Company is one of them, with a patio and an excellent selection of craft beers and small plates. Another great place for craft beer is El Segundo Brewing Company, with a wide range of beers you can’t get anywhere else.
Things to Do
Outdoor recreation is the most popular way to spend time in South Bay. Given its environment filled with beach communities, there are so many different ways to take in everything that South Bay has to offer. Some of the most popular in the area include Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Redondo Beach.
For shopping and dining, people love to head to Manhattan Beach. Another thing this beach is known for is Polliwog Park. This park is known for its bird watching, and also for being a dog park. People love to take their dogs to this area so they can have fun and run around in a dog-friendly environment. There’s always something exciting happening at this beach, including the annual Skechers Manhattan Beach Holiday Fireworks.
At Hermosa Beach, the feel has a laid-back and relaxed feel, which is perfect for low-key beach days. They have a pier which is often used for fishing, and it's also a place that many like to go surfing at. You can find hiking trails nearby as well, perfect for bike rides or going for walks.
Redondo Beach has multiple different areas and is known for surfing and other beach activities. You’ll often find people playing some beach volleyball, going on hikes, or enjoying some seafood at one of the local restaurants.
